A trip with variety! Two great post-industrial centres and the Capital of the North!

Leeds grew during the industrial revolution to be the centre of commerce in the region, a fine display of Victorian building attest to the city's dominance. Leeds is now the financial centre of the North with the former canal-side warehouses re-imagined as contemporary living and office spaces for the thriving banking and insurance sectors. Leeds has also a rich theatrical tradition from the Grand Opera House to the City Varieties and now the West Yorkshire Playhouse. Leeds has a significant student population, being the home of 3 Universities - Leeds University, Leeds Beckett University and Leeds Trinity University - with a matching lively student life.

Just 25 minutes away is York, Capital of the North and one of Europe's top tourist destinations. With the awe-inspiring York Minster at the centre, the City has a rich variety of world class attractions including the ground-breaking Jorvik Centre and the National Railway Museum. York is a top pick for British visitors for a weekend away and boasts a lively evening culture for visitors with award-wining restaurants, iconic tea rooms and an amazing selection of pubs! York is home to two universities and has an exciting student scene to compliment the visitor attractions.

Newcastle, an hour to the North was the foremost port of the Northeast with a rich history in European trade and commerce. The city now has a lively welcoming riverside with lots to offer visitors. Across the river, the cultural life of the City is led by The Glasshouse and supported by an array of galleries and venues.
